Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully foiled multiple coordinated infiltration attempts by suspected ISWAP terrorists across several locations in Borno State, forcing the insurgents to retreat after fierce engagements.
According to an official statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the attempted infiltrations occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 10, 2026, between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
The statement said the terrorists attempted to infiltrate Muna Garage, Shuwari Village and the Ajilari Cross axis in a bid to gain access to Maiduguri metropolis. However, troops, supported by effective early warning mechanisms, detected the advancing insurgents and engaged them from multiple directions with accurate firepower, successfully repelling the attacks.
It added that troops also thwarted separate infiltration attempts by the terrorists at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai.
According to the statement, during the pursuit of the fleeing terrorists at Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). No casualties were recorded among the troops, while the operational situation remained stable.
The military said the terrorists were overwhelmed by the troops’ swift tactical manoeuvres, forcing them to abandon their mission and retreat in disarray across all the affected axes.
Troops are currently conducting clearance and exploitation operations to pursue the fleeing terrorists, consolidate operational gains, dominate the general area and prevent any further threats to nearby communities.
The statement reaffirmed Operation HADIN KAI’s commitment to sustaining aggressive offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and protecting lives and property across the North-East.
It also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
