The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has honoured six outstanding members of staff for their dedication, professionalism, and exceptional contributions to service delivery as part of activities marking the 2026 Civil Service Week celebration.

According to an official statement signed by the Head, Information and Public Relations, OSGF, Chris Ugwuegbulam, it was disclosed that the awards were presented during the Staff Award and Recognition Ceremony held on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office (GSO), Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, commended the recipients for their unwavering commitment to duty, describing them as shining examples of the values of hard work, integrity, and excellence that the Office seeks to promote.

Dr. Kana noted that while every member of staff contributes to the success of the OSGF, the awards were instituted to recognise exceptional performance and encourage others to strive for excellence.

“Today, we celebrate excellence in service delivery. These awards recognise individuals who have distinguished themselves through hard work, commitment, and outstanding performance. We encourage every member of staff to see this as a challenge to continue giving their best, with the hope of being recognised in future editions,” he said.

As part of the Civil Service Week activities, the Permanent Secretary also announced the personal donation of 400 tracksuits to the OSGF Sports Club to support sporting activities and promote healthy living among staff.

He said the initiative was aimed at encouraging physical fitness, teamwork, staff welfare and improved productivity.

“In the spirit of this celebration, I have personally donated 400 pieces of tracksuits for our sporting activities. I believe a good number of staff should benefit from this initiative as we continue to encourage physical fitness, teamwork, and staff welfare. I encourage each and every one of us to come out in large numbers to support our Sports Club and participate fully in the forthcoming sporting activities. Sports help us relieve stress, build stronger relationships, and return to work refreshed and more productive,” he added.

Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Permanent Secretaries in the OSGF, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr. John Chidiebere Ezeamama, said the ceremony was organised to celebrate officers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, professionalism and diligence in the discharge of their duties.

He stressed that recognising excellence in service delivery would further inspire staff to sustain high standards of performance.

Earlier, the Director, Human Resource Management, Mr. Surajo Salisu Usman, described the Staff Award and Recognition Ceremony as one of the major highlights of the 2026 Civil Service Week celebration.

He disclosed that six officers representing the various offices within the OSGF were selected through a transparent process based on their exemplary performance, dedication and commitment to duty.

According to him, the recognition is expected to motivate staff to continue upholding the core values of integrity, accountability, teamwork and professionalism.

Responding on behalf of the award recipients, Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Richard Enyichi Chigbu, expressed appreciation to the management for the recognition, assuring that the awardees would remain committed to discharging their responsibilities with greater diligence and professionalism.

He noted that the honour reflected the collective efforts of colleagues, supervisors and the management, emphasising that teamwork remains essential to achieving the Office’s mandate.

The six award recipients are Danlami Dennis Kassem (General Services Office), Alex Jatau Alfred (Ecological Project Office), Richard Enyichi Chigbu (Cabinet Affairs Office), Onuh Edime (Special Services Office), Bolori Abdulrahman Tahir (Political and Economic Affairs Office), and Aliyu Suleiman Mashegu (Secretary to the Government of the Federation Main Office).
