Police Reform: IGP Disu Engages Former Inspectors-General

 Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, on Thursday received a delegation of former Inspectors-General of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, in a high-level engagement aimed at strengthening ongoing police reforms and enhancing the nation’s security architecture.

The distinguished delegation comprised IGP Aliyu Attah, NPM, mni, CFR (Rtd); IGP Sunday Ehindero, NPM, CFR (Rtd); IGP Mike Mbama Okiro, CFR, NPM, mni (Rtd); IGP Ogbonna Onovo, NPM (Rtd); IGP Abubakar Ringim, NPM, mni (Rtd); IGP Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni (Rtd); IGP Sulaiman Abba, CFR, mni (Rtd); IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, NPM (Rtd); and IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, mni (Rtd).

The meeting focused on harnessing the institutional memory, professional experience and strategic insights of the former police chiefs to address emerging security challenges and accelerate the ongoing transformation of the Nigeria Police Force.

During the discussions, the former Inspectors-General shared perspectives on strengthening policing, improving operational effectiveness and sustaining reforms aimed at enhancing public safety and service delivery.

Speaking at the meeting, IGP Disu expressed profound appreciation to his predecessors for honouring the invitation and for their continued commitment to the progress of the Nigeria Police Force.

He noted that their wealth of experience and institutional knowledge remain invaluable assets in advancing the Force’s reform agenda and building a more professional, efficient and responsive police service.

The engagement underscores the commitment of the current police leadership to fostering collaboration with past leaders in shaping policies and strategies that will strengthen internal security and improve policing across the country.
