Nigeria’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has formally presented his Letter of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.

The credential presentation ceremony took place on Thursday at the Amiri Diwan in Doha with full diplomatic honours, including the inspection of a Guard of Honour.

Following the formal ceremony, the Amir received Ambassador Yakubu in a private audience, during which he warmly welcomed the Nigerian envoy and reaffirmed the longstanding cordial relationship between Nigeria and Qatar.

His Highness recalled previous high-level exchanges between the two countries and reiterated Qatar’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Ambassador Yakubu conveyed Nigeria’s condolences to the Amir over the recent accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City and expressed solidarity with the Government and people of Qatar.

The Ambassador also reaffirmed Nigeria’s determination to further strengthen collaboration with Qatar in key sectors, including trade, investment, education, security and humanitarian affairs.

The presentation of the Letter of Credence formally marks the commencement of Ambassador Yakubu’s diplomatic mission in Qatar and is expected to further enhance the longstanding partnership between both nations through expanded cooperation and sustained high-level engagement.
