The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing counter-terrorism operations, with a fresh group of top Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist leaders surrendering to troops following sustained military offensives across the North-East theatre.
According to an official signed statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the latest surrender was triggered by relentless military pressure and intelligence-driven operations that have continued to dismantle terrorist enclaves and disrupt their command structures.
Captain Goni disclosed that the surrendered terrorist leaders, regarded as key members of the ISWAP network, voluntarily abandoned their hideouts and are currently in a secure location undergoing profiling, debriefing and other established procedures in line with extant operational protocols.
He noted that the development underscores the effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI’s intensified campaign, which has significantly weakened the operational capacity of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists through sustained combat operations supported by credible, timely and actionable intelligence.
The statement further revealed that within the last one week alone, a total of 76 terrorist foot soldiers, alongside some of their family members, surrendered to troops operating in the theatre.
Captain Goni said the sustained military pressure has continued to erode the confidence of insurgent fighters and their leadership while denying them freedom of movement and disrupting their logistics networks.
He added that the latest operational successes reflect the effectiveness of the Nigerian military’s comprehensive counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency strategy, which combines precision combat operations, intelligence-led engagements and coordinated joint efforts with relevant partners.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the offensive against the remaining terrorist elements, stressing that military operations would continue unabated until all terrorists are either neutralised or compelled to surrender, with the ultimate objective of restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
