The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the mother of the Party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, describing her passing as a great loss to the Basiru family and the wider APC family.

According to an official signed statement by the Special Adviser to the APC National Chairman on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Professor Yilwatda, on behalf of the National Working Committee (NWC), party leaders, members and supporters across the country, extended his heartfelt condolences to Senator Basiru, the entire Basiru family and the people of Osun State following the passing of the family matriarch, who died peacefully at a remarkably ripe age.

The APC National Chairman described the deceased as a woman whose life was marked by faith, dignity, sacrifice and unwavering devotion to her family, noting that although the loss of a loved one is always painful, there is consolation in the fulfilled life she lived and the enduring legacy she left behind.

Professor Yilwatda particularly commended Senator Basiru for the exceptional love, care and commitment he demonstrated towards his mother throughout her lifetime, especially during her illness.

He noted that despite the demanding responsibilities of serving as the National Secretary of the ruling party, Senator Basiru remained steadfast in ensuring his mother received the best possible care, describing his conduct as a reflection of compassion, gratitude and strong family values.

The APC National Chairman urged Senator Basiru and his family to draw strength from the remarkable legacy of integrity, discipline, humility and service their late mother instilled in her children, expressing confidence that her memory would continue to inspire generations of the family.

Professor Yilwatda also prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant her eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and give the bereaved family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“On behalf of our great Party, I extend our deepest sympathies to our National Secretary and his family at this difficult moment. We share in your grief and pray that the Almighty grants Mama eternal rest and gives the family the courage to bear this loss. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the APC National Chairman said.

He reaffirmed the solidarity of the APC with Senator Basiru and his family during this period of mourning, praying that they find comfort in the impactful life and cherished memories of the departed matriarch.
