The Taraba State Government has commissioned a new Police Command Headquarters Complex and B Division Yorro, in a move aimed at strengthening security infrastructure and enhancing policing operations across the state.
According to an official signed statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Taraba State Police Command, Jalingo, ASP Victor Mshelizah, the facilities were commissioned on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, on behalf of the Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, by retired Commissioner of Police Cyril Agyole Abeh.
The commissioning ceremony attracted government officials, traditional rulers, senior police officers, community leaders, and other stakeholders. Representing the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, at the event was the Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Command, CP Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, psc(+), while the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Muhammad Sheidu, served as Chief Host.
Speaking during the ceremony, the representative of the Inspector-General of Police described the project as a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen policing infrastructure and improve operational effectiveness in Taraba State. He noted that the new facilities would enhance command administration, intelligence management, operational coordination, and rapid response to emerging security challenges.
He further stressed the importance of proper maintenance of the facilities and urged police personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline, accountability, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Representing Governor Agbu Kefas, retired CP Cyril Agyole Abeh commended the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for delivering the project, describing it as a significant boost to security, peace, and socio-economic development in the state. He reaffirmed the Taraba State Government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in their efforts to safeguard lives and property.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Muhammad Sheidu, said the projects underscore the Fund’s commitment to addressing critical infrastructure deficits within the Nigeria Police Force and improving the welfare and operational efficiency of personnel through sustained investments in facilities, equipment, and training.
The Taraba State Police Command expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, the Taraba State Government, traditional institutions, community stakeholders, and all individuals who contributed to the successful completion of the projects. The Command also specially acknowledged former Governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Tavoro Nyame, for allocating the land on which the new Command Headquarters was constructed.
The Command reassured residents of Taraba State of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property through professional, intelligence-led, and community-oriented policing, while leveraging the new facilities to enhance service delivery and public safety across the state.
