Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, have successfully rescued Mrs Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, following weeks of intensive search-and-rescue operations after her abduction by bandits.
According to an official signed statement by Director Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the rescue was achieved through sustained offensive operations conducted by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, who mounted intense pressure on the criminal elements responsible for the abduction.
The statement disclosed that troops made contact with the bandits at Tunga Village during ongoing operations, leading to the successful recovery of Mrs Abubakar.
During the encounter, the bandits reportedly shot Mrs Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing in the face of the advancing troops’ overwhelming firepower and operational pressure.
She was immediately evacuated from the area and taken to a military hospital, where she is currently receiving medical treatment and responding positively.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria assured that every necessary support is being provided to ensure her full recovery and to assist her family during the challenging period.
Major General Uba stated that troops remain committed to tracking down and neutralising the perpetrators, while sustaining aggressive operations against terrorists and bandits across affected communities.
He reiterated the determination of the Armed Forces to intensify efforts aimed at eliminating criminal elements not only in Katsina State but across the country, in order to enhance security and protect the lives of Nigerians.
