Troops of the 312 Artillery Regiment under 1 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected military impostor in Kaduna State as part of ongoing efforts to protect the integrity of the Armed Forces and curb fraudulent activities.
The suspect, identified as a civilian, was apprehended at about 9:50 a.m. on June 11, 2026, by troops deployed at Strike Force Base Sabo while allegedly impersonating Major General A.T. Ibrahim (Rtd).
Military sources disclosed that preliminary investigations into the incident are ongoing, after which the suspect will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The arrest forms part of the Nigerian Army’s broader campaign against criminal activities capable of undermining public confidence in the military institution.
The Army reiterated its commitment to combating impersonation and other fraudulent acts involving the misuse of military identity and status, warning that individuals found exploiting the name and reputation of the Armed Forces for unlawful purposes would face the full weight of the law.
It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons claiming military status without proper identification.
The Nigerian Army assured citizens that it would continue to take decisive measures to safeguard the credibility of the Armed Forces and protect the public from criminal elements masquerading as military personnel.
