Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified offensive operations across Zamfara State, neutralizing a terrorist, arresting suspected bandits and disrupting criminal networks in a series of coordinated operations.

In an official signed statement, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed that troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA recorded significant successes during fighting patrols and intelligence-led operations conducted across several local government areas of the state.

According to the statement, troops on 5 June 2026 made contact with terrorists during a fighting patrol to Birnin Tsaba and Tsanu villages in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area. Following a fierce exchange of fire at Birnin Tsaba village, the troops neutralized one terrorist and recovered seven motorcycles believed to have been used by the criminal elements.

The military also responded swiftly to a terrorist attack on Anguwar Sarkin Musulmi village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area on 6 June 2026. Troops engaged the attackers and forced them to flee into nearby bushes.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the terrorists had stolen personal belongings from residents before the arrival of security forces. The military noted that the incident reflects the increasing pressure being mounted on terrorist groups whose logistics and support networks have been significantly degraded through sustained military operations.

On the same day, troops responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Kaura Namoda–Zurmi Road. Investigations indicated that terrorists ambushed two civilian vehicles between Jabanda and Dauran villages in Zurmi Local Government Area.

Troops immediately secured the area and evacuated injured victims for medical attention while ongoing efforts continue to track the fleeing terrorists and rescue any passengers who may have been abducted during the attack.

In another operation on 6 June 2026, troops conducting a fighting patrol to Tudun Wada and Dan Gulbi communities in Maru Local Government Area arrested eight suspected bandits at Tudun Wada.

Items recovered from the suspects included seven motorcycles, communication equipment, mobile phones, power banks, military-style uniforms and other materials. Troops also destroyed a structure allegedly being used by the suspects as an operational base.

Meanwhile, intelligence exploitation led to the arrest of a suspected recipient of recently intercepted ammunition at Tupa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area on 5 June 2026.

The suspect is currently in military custody and is assisting investigators with ongoing efforts aimed at dismantling criminal supply and logistics networks operating within the region.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against terrorists and bandits across the North-West and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing security efforts.
