The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed an Emergency Response Team (ERT) following an incident involving a passenger train travelling from Itakpe to Warri along the Agbor axis of Delta State.
According to an official signed statement by the National Emergency Management Agency, the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, immediately activated the agency’s emergency response mechanism upon receiving an alert about the incident on Monday, June 8, 2026.
The statement noted that the agency swiftly deployed an Emergency Response Team to the affected area to coordinate intervention efforts and provide support to passengers.
Mrs. Umar has also been in contact with the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), assuring the corporation of NEMA’s full support in managing the situation and ensuring the safety and welfare of those involved.
NEMA disclosed that its response team is working closely with the Nigerian Railway Corporation, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to provide necessary assistance, safeguard passengers, and support ongoing response operations.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to effective emergency response and coordination, while continuing to monitor developments surrounding the incident.
