The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a series of far-reaching resolutions aimed at strengthening party supremacy, institutionalizing internal governance, promoting accountability, and fostering unity among its members.

According to an official signed statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, Osa Director, the resolutions were adopted at the party’s second National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting as part of efforts to build a strong and enduring political institution.

The party emphasized that all governments elected on its platform must operate in consultation with party structures, particularly in the formulation of policies, programmes and appointments, with the exception of personal staff appointments.

The NEC reaffirmed the supremacy of the party, stressing that members are expected to subordinate personal interests and ambitions to the collective goals and objectives of the NDC.

As part of measures to strengthen organizational control, the party directed that all affiliated groups and non-governmental organizations operating within its fold must function under the guidance and authority of the party and not as parallel or independent entities.

The meeting also approved the development of a comprehensive Code of Conduct for party officials and candidates. To facilitate this process, a committee headed by the National Legal Adviser has been constituted to draft the framework and operational guidelines.

In a move aimed at promoting unity and cohesion, the NDC inaugurated a National Reconciliation Committee tasked with engaging and reconciling aggrieved members across the country.

The party further declared its commitment to building a lasting institution rather than a personality-driven political platform or a temporary vehicle for electoral ambitions. It urged members to remain dedicated to the growth, sustainability and long-term success of the party.

The NEC stressed that loyalty to the party and the national interest must remain paramount for all candidates, aspirants and members, regardless of personal or political considerations.

On financial management, the party announced plans to enforce strict accountability measures in the handling of party resources. It stated that all party funds must be utilized solely for official party activities and business.

The resolutions also introduced stringent financial disclosure requirements for candidates seeking elective offices. Under the new framework, all funds sourced by candidates, as well as contributions made to campaign activities, must be fully disclosed to the party at the local government, state, zonal and national levels.

The party further directed that campaign funds for all elections, including presidential and governorship contests, must be managed through designated party campaign accounts to ensure transparency, accountability and effective oversight.

The NDC said the resolutions reflect its determination to build a disciplined, transparent and institution-driven political party capable of enduring beyond individual interests and serving future generations.
