The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has congratulated cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, following their outstanding victory at the 2026 RIL Campus Crown Awards Debate Competition, where they emerged winners after defeating participants from various tertiary institutions across Kano State.
The RIL Campus Crown Awards is a youth-focused initiative designed to provide students with platforms to demonstrate talent through leadership debates, sports competitions, and other developmental engagements aimed at promoting critical thinking, teamwork, and responsible citizenship.
In a keenly contested debate featuring some of the brightest minds from universities and tertiary institutions in the state, the Police Academy cadets distinguished themselves through intellectual depth, eloquence, analytical reasoning, and strong public speaking skills, ultimately securing the top position in the competition.
IGP Disu described the achievement as a reflection of the effectiveness of the Academy’s academic and leadership development programmes, noting that intellectual excellence remains a critical pillar of modern policing.
He commended the cadets for serving as worthy ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Academy and the Nigeria Police Force, while urging them to sustain the values of discipline, professionalism, and excellence.
Meanwhile, the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Patrick A. Atayero, psc, mspsp, received the victorious team and congratulated them on the achievement.
He described their success as a testament to the Academy’s commitment to producing well-rounded police officers equipped with both professional competence and intellectual capacity to serve the nation effectively.
