The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi II, has praised the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, describing his stewardship of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and contributions to community development as a source of pride to the Ife Kingdom and the Modakeke community.
According to an official signed statement, the monarch made the remarks during the annual Eid-el-Kabir gathering hosted by the Comptroller-General at his residence in Modakeke, Osun State, on 28 May 2026.
The event drew an array of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, political leaders, senior Customs officers, community stakeholders, family members, friends, and associates.
Oba Ogunwusi cited President Bola Tinubu’s public commendation of the Customs boss as evidence of the confidence reposed in Adeniyi’s leadership and the results being achieved under his administration.
“We are very proud of him and the work he is doing. When Mr President publicly expressed satisfaction with his performance, it was not a casual statement. It reflects trust in his capacity and the results he is delivering. What he is doing in the Customs Service and in the community shows that he is a unifier,” the monarch said.
Reaffirming the support of the Ife Kingdom for the Comptroller-General, the Ooni described Adeniyi as a leader who fosters unity and inspires confidence among the people.
“He brings people together, and that is what leadership is about. We will continue to stand by him and pray for him,” he added.
In his remarks, the Comptroller-General expressed gratitude to the Ooni of Ife, community leaders, family members, friends, associates, and well-wishers for their unwavering support.
Adeniyi described Eid-el-Kabir as a period that underscores the values of sacrifice, gratitude, obedience, and service to humanity. He noted that beyond the festivities, the occasion offered an opportunity to strengthen relationships, reconnect with people, and reflect on the shared responsibility of building stronger communities and a better nation.
The Customs boss highlighted the progress recorded by the Nigeria Customs Service in revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, technological innovation, and corporate social responsibility initiatives, noting that the achievements align with the economic objectives of the Federal Government.
He stated that the Service remains committed to supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through reforms designed to facilitate legitimate trade, enhance national security, improve compliance, and stimulate economic growth.
Adeniyi further disclosed that the Service has continued to invest in community-focused interventions across the country, including educational support programmes, healthcare initiatives, and other projects aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.
He pledged that the Nigeria Customs Service would sustain reforms targeted at strengthening operational efficiency and delivering greater value to the nation, while assuring stakeholders of the Service’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and service excellence.
The Comptroller-General also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the country and reaffirmed the Service’s support for government policies aimed at advancing economic prosperity and national development.
