NDC Unveils Electoral Committees for 2026 Primaries Across 36 States, FCT

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially released the full list of members appointed into its electoral committees for the conduct of the 2026 State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship, and Presidential primaries across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In an official signed statement by the National Chairman of the party, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, and the National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party disclosed that the committees would oversee the primaries scheduled to hold on May 29, 2026.

According to the statement, the committees comprise chairmen, secretaries, and members drawn from different parts of the country to supervise the exercise in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

For the South-East zone, the party appointed Chief Asukewe Ikoawaji to chair the Abia State committee, while Professor Osita Ogbu heads the Anambra State committee. Dr. Peter Onigah was named chairman for Ebonyi State, Chief Teddy Obey for Enugu State, and Comrade Babatunde Ali for Imo State.

In the South-South zone, Dr. Clement Agiangie was appointed chairman for Akwa Ibom State, while Engineer Biokpo Awara heads the Bayelsa State committee. Iliya Kwajafa was named chairman for Cross River State, Dr. Kabiru Umoru for Delta State, Barrister Fredrick Owotorufa for Edo State, and Dr. Osusu Osusu for Rivers State.

The South-West zone committees include Akinlade Olagoke for Ekiti State, Alhaji Sidi Abdul Bomi for Lagos State, Barrister Ojeh Jimmy for Ogun State, Hon. Babatunde Daodu for Ondo State, Hon. Oladejo Yinka for Osun State, and Comrade Adeolu Adewuyi for Oyo State.

For the North-Central zone, Jenkins Gwede was appointed chairman for Benue State, while retired Commissioner of Police Ezebuike Peter heads the Kogi State committee. Barrister Michael Bamidele Sijuade was named for Kwara State, Dr. Okey Ezeala for Nasarawa State, Hon. Richard Adams for Niger State, Dr. Pabara Igwele for Plateau State, and Chief Barnabas J. Ejisi for the FCT.

In the North-East zone, Nura Abdulrazak was appointed chairman for Gombe State, while Barrister Umar Hassan heads the Taraba State committee. Alhaji Mohammed Sawa was named chairman for Yobe State, Williams Lappi for Adamawa State, Mr. Ande Karma for Bauchi State, and Comrade Mustafa Ali for Borno State.

The North-West zone committees are headed by Tasiu Safiyanu Liman for Jigawa State, Balarabe Ayuba for Kaduna State, Mainasara Sani Abubakar for Kano State, Suleiman Aliyu Baba for Katsina State, Saidu Jalo Bakuwai for Kebbi State, Bello Labaran Gwadabawa for Sokoto State, and Bashar Muhammed Marafa for Zamfara State.

The party leadership reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, peaceful, and credible primaries, urging aspirants, delegates, and party faithful across the country to cooperate fully with the committees to ensure a successful exercise.

The NDC stated that the constitution of the committees reflects its resolve to strengthen internal democracy and guarantee fairness throughout the primary election process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
