President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s infrastructure investments across the country featured prominently as the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, received a warm reception from residents of his hometown, Uburu, in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The residents, who gathered in large numbers on November 2, 2026, commended the President for prioritising infrastructure development and appointing Umahi to oversee the Federal Ministry of Works.
The reception, described as spontaneous and unofficial, followed the minister’s series of engagements with stakeholders in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
According to an official statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works on Media, Francis Nwaze, the gathering attracted residents from various communities across Uburu and Ohaozara, who expressed appreciation for Umahi’s contributions to national development.
Some of the community leaders and stakeholders who addressed the gathering included Onu Okorie, Prince Mathew and Comrade Kingsley Obini, alongside other prominent personalities.
They commended Tinubu for entrusting Umahi with the responsibility of overseeing federal road infrastructure, describing the appointment as an opportunity for their son to bring his experience in infrastructure development to bear on national service.
The stakeholders also highlighted the importance of federal road and bridge projects in the South-East, noting that improved transportation infrastructure was critical to the economic activities of residents, traders, motorists and businesses across the region.
They expressed the hope that ongoing infrastructure investments would be sustained to address longstanding road challenges and improve connectivity within the South-East and other parts of the country.
The residents further linked their support for the Tinubu administration to its infrastructure development agenda and the opportunity given to Umahi to contribute to national development.
They consequently declared their intention to support the President’s re-election bid in 2027, citing the administration’s infrastructure initiatives and Umahi’s appointment as key considerations.
The homecoming provided an opportunity for residents of Uburu and Ohaozara to celebrate the minister and express their expectations for sustained federal infrastructure development in Ebonyi State and the wider South-East.
