The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, sacrifice and national unity as Muslims across the country celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
According to an official signed statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Yomi Odunuga, Senator Akume, in his Sallah message issued on Tuesday, described Eid-el-Kabir as a season of deep spiritual reflection, compassion and devotion to the enduring values exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
The SGF called on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace, stability and continued progress of the country.
He noted that Eid-el-Kabir symbolises obedience, selflessness and faith in God, stressing that such virtues remain critical to fostering harmony and strengthening national cohesion, especially at a time the nation is grappling with socio-economic and security challenges.
Senator Akume also commended Muslim faithful for their contributions to national development and peaceful coexistence across the country.
He stressed that Nigeria’s diversity should continue to serve as a source of strength and unity rather than division, urging citizens to promote tolerance, understanding and peaceful coexistence irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.
The SGF further appealed to Nigerians to support the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, noting that the ongoing reforms of the Federal Government were already producing positive outcomes for the country.
He assured citizens that the administration remained committed to improving their welfare and living conditions.
Senator Akume also encouraged Muslims to extend love, kindness and support to the less privileged during the festive period, adding that the spirit of sacrifice associated with Eid-el-Kabir should inspire greater care for vulnerable members of society.
He prayed for sustained peace, unity and prosperity in Nigeria and wished Muslims across the country a joyful, safe and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration marked by renewed hope for the nation.
