The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated Nigerian workers on the occasion of the International Workers’ Day 2026, commending their resilience, patriotism, and unwavering contributions to national development.

According to an official signed statement by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy to the APC National Chairman, Professor Yilwatda paid tribute to workers across all sectors, describing their sacrifices, diligence, and commitment as the backbone of Nigeria’s growth. He particularly acknowledged the endurance shown by workers amid prevailing economic challenges, noting that their perseverance reflects the strength and character of the Nigerian people.

The APC Chairman reaffirmed that the administration of President Tinubu remains firmly committed to advancing policies and programmes that prioritise the welfare, dignity, and prosperity of Nigerian workers. He described the President as a worker-friendly leader who recognises the critical role of labour in nation-building.

Professor Yilwatda further explained that the ongoing economic reforms introduced by the Federal Government are necessary steps toward repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term prosperity. He highlighted key policy measures such as the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange system, increased infrastructure investment, expansion of social intervention programmes, and renewed focus on industrialisation as strategies aimed at addressing structural imbalances in the economy.

He stated that these reforms are designed to boost productivity, stabilise the economy, attract both local and foreign investments, and generate employment opportunities. While acknowledging that the transition may pose short-term difficulties, he assured that targeted interventions are being implemented to mitigate the impact and ensure inclusive benefits for Nigerians.

The APC National Chairman emphasised that the sacrifices of workers would ultimately yield positive outcomes, expressing confidence that the reforms would produce a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous economy.

He urged Nigerian workers to remain steadfast, hopeful, and united in supporting the nation’s development agenda, stressing that collective commitment is essential to achieving national aspirations.

Professor Yilwatda also wished workers across the country a fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration, praying for continued strength, progress, and prosperity for them and their families.
