The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has reinforced its commitment to staff welfare with the presentation of three vehicles to its staff unions, in a move aimed at improving mobility, healthcare access, and overall productivity within the service.
According to an official signed statement by Chris Ugwuegbulam, Head, Information and Public Relations, OSGF, the vehicles comprising a hybrid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) staff bus, an 18-seater Hiace bus, and a fully equipped state-of-the-art ambulance were formally handed over on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Abuja.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, stated that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to address transportation challenges, enhance staff wellbeing, and boost productivity in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He emphasised that the welfare of civil servants remains a priority for the administration, noting that improved working conditions are critical to building an efficient and responsive public service.
“President Tinubu places the welfare of civil servants and Nigerians at the front burner. A vibrant civil service requires efficient and motivated staff. To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.
Akume further urged the beneficiary unions to ensure the proper management and maintenance of the vehicles, while calling on staff to reciprocate the gesture through increased dedication and commitment to duty.
In his response, the Chairman of the Joint Council of Unions (JCUs) in OSGF, Comrade Paul Idowu, commended the SGF for the intervention, describing it as a timely and impactful initiative that would significantly improve staff morale and day-to-day operations.
He assured management that the vehicles would be judiciously utilised for the collective benefit of staff members.
The handover ceremony was attended by directors and senior management staff of the OSGF, underscoring the importance attached to staff welfare within the Office.
