The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a major operational breakthrough with the arrest of four suspected bandits and the recovery of firearms and ammunition in Kaduna State, as part of ongoing efforts to curb violent crime.

According to an official signed statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department, Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) following credible intelligence.

The suspects Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40), were apprehended on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, as well as a locally fabricated pistol with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are linked to banditry and other violent criminal activities within the region, while further operations are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the criminal network and recover additional weapons.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to tackling banditry and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country.
