Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered N8 million ransom in a coordinated operation in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, in a move authorities say reinforces ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the region.
According to an official signed statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Oteh, the operation was conducted on Saturday, 25 April 2026, following actionable intelligence linked to a recent abduction.
The statement disclosed that the victim, who was abducted on 19 April from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area, was traced to a hideout in Padam Forest in Qua’an Pan LGA after troops intensified intelligence gathering and interrogated a suspect earlier arrested in connection with the crime.
Troops subsequently moved to the identified location, where the victim was found and safely rescued. The operation also led to the recovery of N8 million, which had been paid by the victim’s family as ransom to the kidnappers.
Following her rescue, the victim was taken to the General Hospital in Shendam for medical examination and was later reunited with her family. The recovered ransom was also returned to the family.
The military said follow-up exploitation operations are ongoing in Qua’an Pan and Shendam Local Government Areas to track down and apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
Operation ENDURING PEACE commended residents for their cooperation and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations in the Joint Operations Area.
