The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the sudden death of United States–based Nigerian physician, Dr. Uzoma Nwaubani, who passed away while on a medical mission in Abia State.

In a statement issued by the Commission’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa described the late doctor’s death as a huge loss not only to her immediate family but also to Nigeria and the global Nigerian medical community.

According to the NIDCOM boss, Dr. Nwaubani was a passionate and dedicated member of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), known for her commitment to humanitarian service and her eagerness to give back to Nigeria through medical missions and healthcare outreaches.

Dabiri-Erewa noted that the physician had travelled from the United States to participate in a medical mission organised by ANPA in Abia State as part of efforts by Nigerian professionals in the diaspora to provide free medical services and support healthcare delivery in their home country.

She explained that while participating in the outreach programme, the doctor developed a medical emergency. Despite immediate efforts by a highly skilled medical team to resuscitate her, she sadly could not be revived.

The NIDCOM Chairman extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and professional colleagues of the late doctor, particularly members of ANPA.

She prayed that God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and also grant the deceased eternal rest.
