The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dissociated itself from a publication attributed to Sahara Reporters which called on political figures from opposition parties to join the party in order to run the All Progressives Congress (APC) out of the country.
In an official statement signed by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, the party clarified that the directive referenced in the publication did not originate from its national leadership.
Abdulsalam explained that the statement was issued by an enthusiastic supporter of the party and not by the official leadership of the NDC.
The party emphasized that, following the example of its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, the NDC promotes decent politics anchored on civility and responsible engagement.
“While we appreciate the passion and commitment of our members, particularly our young people, we strongly advise that all engagements must reflect order, respect, and a commitment to politics driven by ideas and vision, not by attacks, abuse, or threats against any individual or group,” the statement said.
The party further stressed that any statement calling for attacks on individuals or political parties, or suggesting that anyone be pushed out of the country, is unauthorized and does not represent the position of the NDC.
The NDC therefore urged its members and supporters to rely solely on verified official channels of the party for authentic information, advising them to disregard statements from unofficial groups or platforms.
According to the statement, the party’s verified social media handles across X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok remain @nigeriandchq.
The party also called on members of the media to verify all statements attributed to the NDC before publication, while urging its members and supporters to adhere strictly to the party’s standards and values rooted in civility, discipline, and issue-based political engagement.
