By Nkechi Eze

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Benue State Government have reinforced their strategic partnership to address security challenges and enhance coordinated operations aimed at protecting lives and property across the state.

This followed a courtesy visit by the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Sam Ode, to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja on March 24, 2026.

The meeting underscored the importance of sustained civil–military cooperation in tackling evolving security threats, particularly in vulnerable communities, while strengthening ongoing counter-insurgency and internal security operations. Both parties emphasized the need for closer collaboration between the military and sub-national authorities to improve public safety and ensure a more coordinated response to security concerns.

During the engagement, the Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Benue State and other parts of the country with responsive and effective air power capabilities. The leadership of the Air Force noted that enhanced collaboration with state governments remains critical to achieving national security objectives and protecting civilian populations.

The visit further highlighted the growing role of inter-agency and civil-military partnerships in addressing Nigeria’s complex security landscape, as stakeholders continue to align efforts toward sustainable peace and stability.
