The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has received commendation from the SERVICOM National Office for notable improvements in its service delivery, particularly in the conduct of Orientation Camp activities, including feeding and other services provided to Corps Members.

In an official statement, Director of Information and Public Relations, NYSC, Caroline Embu, disclosed that the SERVICOM National Coordinator, Nnenna Akajemeli, gave the commendation as the keynote speaker at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Second Quarter Networking Meeting for Desk Officers held in Abuja. The event carried the theme: “Leveraging SERVICOM Principles for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery in NYSC.”

Akajemeli, represented at the event by the Head of Operations, SERVICOM, Mrs. Ngozi Akinbodewa, described NYSC as one of the Federal Government agencies demonstrating commendable commitment to quality service delivery and responsiveness to citizens’ needs.

In his address, the NYSC Director-General (DG), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, reaffirmed the Scheme’s resolve to sustain and further improve service delivery to Nigerians in line with SERVICOM standards. Represented by the Director, Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement, Chief Chinwendu Chukwu, the DG emphasised that the workshop was not merely routine but a call to action, urging officers to renew their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and strict adherence to SERVICOM principles.

The DG described Desk Officers as a critical link between the Scheme and the public, charging them to give their best at all times to ensure optimal service delivery. He further urged participants to continually reassess their engagement with stakeholders, especially during official interactions, with a view to improving public confidence in the Scheme.

Participants at the workshop were drawn from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, the FCT Secretariat, and the 36 State Secretariats, highlighting the nationwide scope of the initiative to strengthen service delivery across the Scheme.
