Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), under the Joint Task Force North West, have maintained relentless pressure on terrorist networks, recording significant operational gains across the Joint Operations Area between 21 and 22 January 2026.
In an official statement, Captain David Adewusi, Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, disclosed that troops from the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, alongside DSS assets, engaged terrorists in Gundumi Village, Isa Local Government Area. The encounter resulted in the neutralization of one terrorist, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. Security forces recovered six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles during the operation.
Meanwhile, troops from 1 Brigade, in collaboration with the JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team, acted swiftly on credible intelligence indicating that injured terrorists were receiving treatment in Bingi Forest. The forces discovered and destroyed a makeshift medical facility, delivering a major blow to the terrorists’ support infrastructure and demonstrating the troops’ rapid and effective operational response.
The continued successes of Operation FANSAN YAMMA underscore the Joint Task Force’s unwavering commitment to degrading terrorist networks and restoring peace and security across the North West.
