The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, psc, mnips, on Wednesday joined the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr Abdullahi A. Sule, and other heads of security agencies in the laying of wreaths to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony held at the Government House in Lafia.

The solemn event, which brought together senior government officials and security stakeholders, was organised to honour the sacrifices of officers and men of the Armed Forces and other security services who paid the supreme price in the defence of Nigeria’s unity and territorial integrity.

According to an official statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, SP Rahman Nansel, the Commissioner of Police described the occasion as a moment of deep reflection and national gratitude. He noted that Armed Forces Remembrance Day serves as a constant reminder of the courage, patriotism and selfless service of both serving and retired security personnel who dedicated their lives to the peace and stability of the country.

CP Mohammed offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes, while also reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to supporting ongoing efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property across Nasarawa State and the nation at large.

The ceremony was attended by heads of security agencies in the state, serving and retired security personnel, traditional rulers and top government functionaries. Together, they paid glowing tributes to Nigeria’s fallen heroes and renewed their collective resolve to uphold national unity, peace and security in line with the ideals for which the departed officers stood.
