The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for commissioning as officers in selected specialist corps of the service.

According to the announcement, the Direct Short Service Commission is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who meet the stipulated requirements. Successful applicants will be commissioned into key professional corps critical to the Army’s operational effectiveness and institutional development.

The corps open for application include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, as well as the Nigerian Army Education Corps.

The Army clarified that the application process is entirely free and will be conducted online. Interested candidates are to submit their applications through the official recruitment portal between Wednesday, 7 January and Tuesday, 4 February 2026.

Prospective applicants seeking additional information or clarification have been advised to contact the designated help lines on 08179269294 or 08109959294 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily. They may also visit the Nigerian Army recruitment website for full details and application guidelines.

The Direct Short Service Commission remains one of the avenues through which the Nigerian Army recruits qualified professionals to strengthen its manpower base and enhance its capacity to meet contemporary security and development challenges.
