The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Monday ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify and sustain an uncompromising pursuit of the bandits who abducted students of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The directive was issued during his operational tour of the state, according to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Operation FANSAN YANMA, Captain David Adewusi.
Addressing frontline commanders and troops, the Army Chief charged them to conduct intelligence-driven operations and maintain a continuous, round-the-clock pursuit of the abductors until the children are found and safely reunited with their families. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he declared, stressing that no effort must be spared in the rescue mission.
Gen Shaibu also met with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as indispensable partners in the ongoing operation. He urged them to deploy their terrain familiarity to support troops in tracking and neutralising criminal elements. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he assured.
During the visit, the COAS paid condolence calls on the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji. He reaffirmed the military’s unwavering commitment to rescuing the abducted students unharmed and restoring security across affected communities.
Gen Shaibu further urged troops to remain disciplined, resilient, and professional, reminding them to act strictly within the rules of engagement while maintaining maximum responsiveness in ongoing operations aimed at stabilising Kebbi State and its environs.
