Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace have raided a suspected gunrunners’ hideout at Fashoron Village in the Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, recovering a cache of arms, ammunition and other items in a targeted operation aimed at disrupting criminal networks in the region.

According to an official statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the raid was conducted on 13 November 2025 by Sector 2 (Sub-Sector 2) troops of Operation Enduring Peace following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected arms dealers. The suspects reportedly fled the location prior to the troops’ arrival.

A thorough search of the hideout led to the recovery of significant weaponry, including one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one sub-machine gun (SMG), two Dane guns, 42 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, 84 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 20 cartridges. Troops also recovered six mobile phones and ₦330,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from illicit arms transactions.

Major Zhakom noted that all recovered items are currently in custody, while efforts have been intensified to track and arrest the fleeing suspects.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to employing all legitimate means to eliminate criminal elements within the Joint Operations Area, especially individuals involved in the proliferation of illegal weapons that threaten peace and security across Plateau State and neighbouring communities.
