Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu charts a transformative course for inclusive growth, empowerment, and sustainable development across Okigwe Zone.
In an official signed statement made available by the Ikeoha Solidarity Forum, it was disclosed that Okewulonu has announced the official unveiling of the Ikeoha Vision, a far-reaching and transformative development agenda conceptualized and driven by Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu (Ikeoha Okigwe). The initiative seeks to position Okigwe Zone as a central pillar in Imo State’s long-term development architecture, ensuring that the region’s people, potential, and priorities are fully integrated into the state’s progress story.
For decades, Okigwe has stood as the silent strength of Imo, a land richly endowed with fertile soil, industrious youth, and an unyielding spirit of resilience. Yet, despite these blessings, the region has endured years of neglect and exclusion from major developmental frameworks. The Ikeoha Vision emerges as a bold response to this imbalance, a people-centered roadmap built on legislative advocacy, equity, and accountability.
At the core of this vision is the proposed establishment of the Okigwe Development Commission (ODC), a statutory body that will plan, coordinate, and execute projects across key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and security. The Commission aims to ensure that every naira allocated for Okigwe translates into tangible progress, from modern roads and schools to thriving markets and safer communities.
Speaking at the unveiling, Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu (Ikeoha) underscored the non-political essence of the vision: “The Ikeoha Vision is not about politics; it is about purpose. It is about equity, empowerment, and ensuring that development becomes a right, not a privilege. Every kobo budgeted for Okigwe must reflect in the lives of our people, in our roads, our hospitals, and in the future of our youth.”
A key implementing arm of this agenda, the Ikeoha Foundation, will serve as a catalyst for transparent, community-driven development. The Foundation will bridge government intent with grassroots action fostering collaboration among traditional institutions, civil society, and the private sector to ensure no ward or village is left behind.
The Ikeoha Vision also emphasizes agro-industrial expansion, modernization of rural markets, youth skill development, and security-driven infrastructure all geared towards building a self-sustaining and inclusive regional economy.
According to the Ike Solidarity Forum, this initiative represents more than a zonal aspiration, it is a call for Imo’s collective renewal. “Okigwe’s rise is Imo’s revival. When one zone advances, the entire state grows stronger. The Ikeoha Vision is a call for unity, vision-driven governance, and shared responsibility from policymakers to community leaders, from youths to entrepreneurs.”
The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to rallying support for the realization of this vision, describing it as a movement of hope and transformation built on values of justice, transparency, and inclusive development.
In conclusion, the Forum emphasized: “We must legislate inclusion, not exclusion. We must invest in our people, not in politics. With the Ikeoha Vision, we are laying the foundation for an Imo where every child, from Okigwe to Oguta, from Orlu to Owerri can stand tall with pride, dignity, and opportunity.”
