The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called on Nigerians at home and abroad to take advantage of the vast investment opportunities offered through the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) to drive national economic growth.
Dabiri-Erewa made the call during a Joint World Press Conference held at NiDCOM headquarters in Abuja ahead of the 2025 edition of the Summit, scheduled to take place from November 11 to 13, 2025. The event will be held under the theme, “Fast Tracking Regional and National Development by Mobilising Diaspora Investment.”
According to an official statement signed by Gabriel Odu from the NiDCOM Media and Public Relations Unit, the NiDCOM boss revealed that the 2024 edition of the Summit recorded over ₦673 million worth of diaspora investment deals across key sectors of the economy.
“Since its inception in 2018, the NDIS has become a trusted platform that fosters direct, credible and impactful investments from the Nigerian diaspora into the local economy,” Dabiri-Erewa said, noting that the initiative continues to serve as a vital bridge between global investors and Nigerian enterprises.
Highlighting the achievements of last year’s edition, she disclosed that the Summit attracted over 1,500 participants, comprising 236 investors and 1,197 business owners. The 2024 conference produced 56 concrete investment deals valued at approximately ₦673 million, with the creative industry taking the lead with 39 deals, while other sectors such as infrastructure, real estate, agribusiness, and energy also recorded significant engagements.
Dabiri-Erewa further noted that several state governments including Ondo, Nasarawa, and Borno, have leveraged the Summit in past years to attract investors for major developmental initiatives. She cited Ondo State’s port project, which gained federal government approval, as one of the notable outcomes of such engagements.
“NDIS has grown beyond being just a conference; it has evolved into a catalyst for enterprise and sustainable development that fosters job creation, youth empowerment, and connects Nigeria’s enormous talent pool to the national development agenda,” she emphasized.
She also announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at this year’s event, while appreciating long-standing partners such as the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA), the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), First Bank, NNPC Limited, AG Mortgage, and the media for their consistent collaboration and support.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI), Dr. Badewa Adejugbe-Williams, underscored the importance of the Summit as a key platform for unlocking the vast potential of the Nigerian diaspora towards the country’s socio-economic development.
She noted that this year’s theme aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to diversify the nation’s economy and promote inclusive growth and sustainable development. “The NDIS has, over the years, served as a vital bridge, attracting investments and deepening diaspora engagement in national transformation,” Adejugbe-Williams stated.
She urged potential investors, sponsors, and media partners to take advantage of the opportunities the Summit presents and contribute to building a stronger, more resilient Nigerian economy.
Jointly organised by NiDCOM and NDSI, the 2025 Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit will connect diaspora investors with local entrepreneurs across various sectors, including finance and fintech, ICT, creative industries, sports, agribusiness, healthcare, education, real estate, infrastructure, manufacturing, and energy.
