FRSC arrest 2,147 motorists for alleged traffic violations in Edo

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Edo State said it arrested no fewer than 2,147 motorists for alleged traffic violations across the state in the last month. DAILY POST reports that the State Sector Commander of the Corps, Paul Okpe, disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City.

Okpe said the offenders were arrested in New Benin, Olukun, Sapele Road, Tollgate, Auchi, Ekpoma and other areas across the state within the period under review.

He said they were arrested for dangerous driving, overloading, route violation, over speeding, use of phone, seatbelt violation, driving without fire extinguisher, among others.

According to him, the 2,147 offenders were arraigned in a mobile court and fined accordingly for various offences. He advised road users in the state to adhere to traffic rules and regulations and maintain discipline while on the road.
