In a decisive military operation that underscores the growing effectiveness of Nigeria’s counterterrorism campaign, air components of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully neutralized a large number of terrorists operating along the border between Zamfara and Kebbi States.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, who disclosed this in an official statement, said the precision airstrikes targeted a convoy of heavily armed terrorists navigating a remote corridor notorious for bandit activities. The operation, described as a significant and commendable feat, was based on credible intelligence that revealed the movement of the convoy toward key communities in the region where they were suspected to be planning coordinated attacks.

Surveillance missions confirmed the presence of the armed bandits and their logistical supplies, prompting a swift and well-coordinated air assault. According to Major General Kangye, the airstrikes resulted in the destruction of several motorcycles used by the terrorists and the elimination of a significant number of fighters. Ground assessments following the operation revealed that the strikes had dealt a major blow to the group’s operational capacity in the region.

The success of the mission, the Defence Headquarters noted, demonstrates the Nigerian Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to protecting citizens, disrupting terrorist networks, and restoring peace across troubled areas in the northwest.

Further reinforcing their intent, the Armed Forces confirmed that follow-up operations are underway to prevent regrouping by any surviving or fleeing terrorist elements. Security forces remain actively engaged in surveillance and strike missions to ensure that no remnants of the group reestablish their presence in the area.

The military also expressed deep appreciation to local communities for their continued cooperation and support, noting that such partnerships are vital to the overall success of national security efforts. The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed its dedication to restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety and stability of all affected communities.

In closing, Major General Kangye assured Nigerians of the Armed Forces’ commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and operational excellence in the fight against terrorism. He called on the public to continue supporting the military, emphasizing that their trust and confidence remain central to ongoing security successes.
