Corps Members have been urged to serve Nigeria with diligence and be exemplary ambassadors of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) throughout their service year. This charge was delivered by the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Akinyemi Nafiu, during his address to the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members at the Magaji Dan-Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
According to an official statement signed by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the DG emphasized the importance of discipline, patriotism, and adherence to the NYSC Act, the Scheme’s Bye-Laws, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He noted that strict compliance with these guiding documents is crucial for a successful service year.
Brigadier General Nafiu further advised Corps Members to embrace and respect the cultural beliefs of their host communities, adding that no culture is superior to another. He encouraged them to actively participate in all camp activities, build friendships across ethnic and religious lines, and cultivate peaceful and harmonious relationships during their time in service.
While presenting the camp situation report, the NYSC Nasarawa State Coordinator, Mrs. Salamatu Muhammad, disclosed that a total of 2,358 Corps Members—comprising 1,150 males and 1,208 females—had been successfully registered for the orientation course. She commended the Corps Members for their high level of enthusiasm, discipline, and resilience since their arrival.
Earlier in the day, the Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, addressed the Corps Members during the Swearing-in Ceremony. He encouraged them to demonstrate commitment and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state. He also pledged continued government support for outstanding Corps Members who distinguish themselves through impactful community development projects.
“Your predecessors lived up to the ideals of the NYSC Scheme. You are expected to sustain this standard. Any Corps Member who initiates and executes a project that improves the lives of people in their host community will be duly recognized and rewarded,” the Governor’s representative stated.
The Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Aisha Bashir Aliu, represented by Hon. Justice Shams Shama, administered the Oath of Allegiance to the Corps Members during the ceremony.
