In a major breakthrough against terrorism in Nigeria’s North-West region, troops of the Mobile Strike Team (MST) under Operation FASAN YAMMA (OPFY) have neutralised several high-profile terrorists during a decisive offensive in Ƙunchin Kalgo town, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to an official statement signed by Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, the offensive operation carried out on June 10, 2025, resulted in the killing of Auta, a notorious terrorist kingpin, along with his close associates Abdul Jamilu and Salisu. These individuals were reportedly responsible for numerous violent crimes and acts of terror that had long destabilised communities within the area.
Preliminary intelligence also indicates that two additional terrorist leaders, including one identified as Babayé, were eliminated during the operation. In a separate but related mission, troops reportedly neutralised Sale Ado Madele, also known as Sarki, who was the eldest son of Ado Alieru, a known bandit leader in the region.
The military’s successful action continued in Danjibga, where ten more terrorists were killed near a filling station. Intelligence suggests that these insurgents were part of a larger syndicate mobilised by another infamous criminal element, Dogo Sule, for an imminent attack. The swift response of the troops prevented what could have been a devastating assault on civilians and infrastructure.
The Nigerian Armed Forces reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace in Zamfara and the wider North-West. Major General Kangye emphasised that the recent operations represent a clear message to all criminal groups threatening national security: they will be pursued relentlessly and brought to justice.
“These operations underscore our resolve to safeguard lives and restore peace across Zamfara State and beyond. We will continue to take decisive action against all threats to national stability,” the statement read.
