The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) has formally commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its outstanding role in the successful hosting of the 39th edition of the Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship, held in Abuja from April 1 to 14, 2025.

An official signed statement by the National Public Relations Officer of the NCS, ACC Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed that in a message addressed to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and signed by CAVB President, Bouchra Hajij, the continental volleyball body praised the NCS for redefining the standards of international sports hosting. The message, dated Thursday, May 22, 2025, described the tournament as a historic milestone, noting that it was the first time in many years the championship was held outside of North Africa.

The CAVB hailed the event as a transformative success that reflected the NCS’s dedication to excellence, inclusivity, and corporate social responsibility. President Hajij lauded the electrifying atmosphere, seamless logistics, and state-of-the-art facilities provided during the championship, all of which combined to deliver an unforgettable experience for both participants and spectators.

The CAVB also highlighted the broader impact of the event, noting that the Customs Service, under the visionary leadership of CGC Adeniyi, had demonstrated how sport can transcend competition and serve as a powerful instrument for social transformation. The championship, the statement noted, not only promoted athletic excellence but also underscored the critical importance of empowering women and youth through sport.

Further commending the Nigeria Customs Service as “an ample and able partner of African Volleyball,” the CAVB affirmed that the 2025 edition of the tournament would leave a lasting legacy and serve as a model for future championships across the continent.

Under the leadership of Comptroller-General Adeniyi and his management team, the Nigeria Customs Service has reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting initiatives that foster inclusion, youth empowerment, and the positive international projection of Nigeria. The Service expressed sincere appreciation to all stakeholders, partners, and members of the public whose contributions helped make the tournament a resounding success.
