In a major stride aimed at reinforcing the leadership architecture of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, has approved the promotion of 18 senior officers to the rank of Assistant Corps Marshal.

The promotion, announced on Monday, May 19, 2025, reflects the current administration’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of key government institutions to deliver on their mandates. The decision is expected to further strengthen the FRSC’s operational efficiency and its strategic drive to reduce road traffic crashes and enhance safety across the country.

ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide the corps public relations officer in an official signed statement disclosed that according to the SGF, the approval followed a rigorous and transparent exercise, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policy thrust of merit-based elevation and institutional strengthening. “The promotion of these distinguished officers demonstrates this administration’s unwavering support for the critical role FRSC plays in national safety and development,” he said.

Out of the 18 promoted officers, three ACM YK Nadabo, ACM JA Akpa, and ACM P Okoyeocha are to proceed on retirement effective immediately. The remaining 15, still in active service, are expected to assume new responsibilities that will contribute significantly to the Corps’ overall performance.

The newly promoted Assistant Corps Marshals include TL Bamigbayan, JO Asolu psc, AG Sanusi, AM Hassan, CO Asom, JW Toby, I Abubakar pjsc, AO Odeleye-Oladayo fsi, OM Ibirongbe, FCNA, and E Odiete. Others are MO Olonusaye, E SonAllah, UA Ibrahim, AR Aremu, and JS Uduabba.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, while congratulating the officers, expressed confidence that their elevation will serve as a motivation to further intensify efforts towards the Corps’ vision of safer roads in Nigeria. “The recognition of their expertise, diligence, and dedication is not just a personal milestone for them but also a collective gain for the Corps,” he said. “I am confident that this will further energize our drive to save lives and maintain sanity on our roads.”

He added that the FRSC remains resolute in its mandate of promoting safer driving culture and enforcing traffic regulations nationwide. With this latest promotion, the Corps now boasts a stronger leadership cadre, better poised to confront contemporary road safety challenges.

The ceremony marking the promotion approval was also seen as a moment of encouragement and reflection, as the FRSC continues to evolve as one of Nigeria’s most structured and responsive public safety agencies.
