The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerian youths to place a premium on ethical conduct and moral values to achieve personal success and emerge as responsible leaders of tomorrow.
Olukoyede made this appeal on Wednesday, April 7, 2025, during an outreach programme by the EFCC’s Integrity Club at Al-manar Basic Education School in Life Camp, Abuja. Represented by Tony Orilade, Assistant Commander I and Head of Public Interface at the Commission’s Public Affairs Department, the EFCC boss stressed that moral discipline is key to achieving greatness.
He urged the students to carefully choose their friends and engage only in positive conversations, reminding them that discipline, diligence, and the right values are essential for building a promising future.
“We are here to discourage you from embracing anti-social behaviour. It would hurt us to see you become involved in financial crimes. We don’t want to interrogate or investigate any of you in the future,” Orilade said. “You are future leaders, and we want you to grow into men and women of honour and integrity.”
He encouraged the students to join the EFCC Integrity Club, which serves as a platform to instill ethical standards and nurture crime-free character in young Nigerians.
Also speaking during the visit, Aisha Mohammed, Assistant Commander II and Head of the Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, urged the students to make integrity a guiding principle.
“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. You must always speak out against wrongdoing and know that the EFCC will be there to uphold justice,” she said.
In appreciation, the Vice Principal of the school, Alhaji Adamu Sliu, thanked the EFCC for the awareness campaign and encouraged the students to combine academic excellence with good character. “Never forget that character counts more than anything else,” he advised.
