The Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun said that he expects a stronger synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the National Youth Service Corps, especially in securing lives and property of Corps members.

He made the statement when he received the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu on a courtesy visit in Abuja.

Caroline Embu the Acting Director media and public relations in a signed statement disclosed that Egbetokun who described the NYSC helmsman as a professional and thorough bred Army Officer also disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force had partnered with the Scheme for ages, and that there was dire need for the collaboration between the two agencies to get better, taking into cognizance the need to give more protection to Corps Members in the face of prevailing security challenges bedeviling the nation currently.

The Police boss used the occasion to applaud NYSC for its contributions to the promotion of national unity, integration and all-round development since its inception in 1973.

He further commended the NYSC National Cultural Troupe for a scintillating performance during the National Police Day Celebration, which was held in Abuja recently.

Earlier, the Director General of NYSC appreciated the Nigerian Police Force for securing NYSC Orientation Camp, offices and Corps Lodges nationwide.

Brig General Nafiu also commended the Force for always mounting special surveillance teams on all Nigerian roads during Orientation Courses, with a view to ensuring that Prospective Corps Members and NYSC Staff arrive their Orientation Camps safely.

While appealing for more support in that regard during the forthcoming Orientation Course slated for 23rd April to 13th May, 2025, he informed his host that NYSC in the recent past has undergone a paradigm shift towards further reforming the youth to eschew social vices by empowering them with skills that will enable them become business owners and employers of labour.
