FRSC Celebrates 37 Years of Excellence, Lauds Media and Stakeholders’ Collaboration

As the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) celebrates major milestones recorded in its 37 years of daunting task of changing bad driving behaviours and entrenching safe road ideals in Nigeria, the Corps has chosen to pay exceptional tribute to it’s large pool of stakeholders, particularly the media for their invaluable support, manifested in timely propagation of road safety policies and messages to the public. 

According to a statement signed Thursday 18th February, 2025 and made available to newsmen by the Corps Public Relations Officer ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, the appreciation was contained in the anniversary message of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed. 

 Shehu in his message stated categorically that the efforts the Corps has put into creating a safer motoring environment wouldn’t have been possible, and made known to the public without the collaboration and partnership of all stakeholders and the media.

Emphasizing the fact that FRSC has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the media, which has been instrumental in disseminating vital information to the public on road safety, reporting on the activities, and amplifying all public awareness campaigns of the Corps. The Corps Marshal also revealed that the Corps has leveraged various media platforms to attain to its present height.

He also reaffirmed the Corps’ gratefulness for the media’s role in holding her accountable and providing constructive feedback, which has enabled the Corps to refine her strategies and improve on service delivery.

Recall that since its establishment in 1988, the FRSC has worked tirelessly to reduce road crashes and promote road safety awareness in Nigeria. 

Also, the Corps has implemented numerous initiatives, including public enlightenment campaigns, Transport Safety Standardization Scheme, Driving School Standardization Programme, driver’s license schemes, speed limit enforcement programs, and emergency ambulance services amongst others.

As FRSC celebrates 37 years of excellence, the Corps is reaffirming its commitment to road safety and seeking the continued support of the media and all other relevant stakeholders in achieving its mandate.
