As part of living up to its commitments to bolster security, foster collaboration with key regional stakeholders, and enhance community-based security initiatives, The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has commenced a two-day official visit to Enugu State.

As press statement made available to newsmen by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi states that; The IGP’s visit accompanied by a robust delegation including the Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the South-East, DIG Frank Mba, and various senior officers, underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining peace and safety across the nation, particularly in Enugu.

One of the highlights of the visit was a courtesy meeting with the Governor of Enugu State, H.E. Dr. Peter N. Mbah. The discussions focused on innovative strategies to strengthen the state’s security architecture, ensuring the safety of residents and the protection of property. During the meeting, IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the police’s dedication to fostering a secure environment for all citizens.

Following his engagement with the governor, the IGP visited the Enugu Council of Traditional Rulers, where he was graciously received by the Chairman, His Royal Majesty Igwe Samuel Asabo, and other esteemed traditional leaders. Emphasizing the vital role of traditional institutions in community-based security, the IGP called for ongoing collaboration to effectively tackle security challenges in the state.

The Inspector-General of Police further emphasized the critical role of traditional institutions in enhancing community-based security initiatives and urged their continued support and collaboration in addressing security challenges in the state. This visit underscores the IGP’s dedication to community-oriented policing and his resolve to engage with diverse stakeholders to strengthen trust, cooperation, and proactive crime prevention measures in Enugu State and the South-East region at large.

The visit is a testament to our commitment to community-oriented policing,” IGP Egbetokun stated. “We must work together with all stakeholders to build trust and enhance proactive measures against crime in Enugu and the broader South-East region.”

Addressing officers and men, the IGP emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and decency. He urged every police officer to embody these values, ensuring that they represent the police with integrity and respect at all times.

This official visit not only highlights the IGP’s dedication to improving security in Enugu State but also emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts between the police, government, and traditional institutions in fostering a safer society for all.
