Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE, have foiled the movement of suspected bandits along a suspected supply route in Kogi State, neutralising two of the suspected criminals and recovering a locally made pistol and ammunition.

The operation, conducted on October 31, 2026, along the Adankolo–Apata Road, involved troops of Sector 3 following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorists around communities in Kabba-Bunu and Lokoja Local Government Areas of the state.

According to an official statement signed by Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, the troops mounted an ambush along the suspected bandits’ supply route and subsequently made contact with the criminal elements.

The statement disclosed that the suspected bandits were subdued during the encounter and forced to flee.

It further revealed that at about 9:00 a.m. on the same day, troops received information about the discovery of suspected bandits’ bodies towards Adankolo Forest.

Upon arrival, the troops discovered the corpses of two suspected bandits and recovered one locally made pistol, one cartridge and an empty case of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The Force Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, and General Officer Commanding 5 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their gallantry and successful execution of the operation.

Gara urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information on suspicious movements and activities, stressing that security remains a collective responsibility.

He reaffirmed the commitment of Operation WHIRL STROKE to sustaining intelligence-led operations to disrupt criminal activities and protect lives and property across its Area of Responsibility.
