The Nigerian Navy Marines, in collaboration with the 403 Amphibious Brigade of the Nigerian Army, have neutralised 34 Boko Haram terrorists in two separate offensive operations in the Lake Chad area of Borno State.
The operations, conducted under Operation HADIN KAI, targeted terrorist elements and enclaves as part of sustained efforts to disrupt insurgent activities and deny them freedom of action within the Lake Chad region.
According to an official statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the first operation was conducted on October 28, 2026, when Nigerian Navy Marines launched an offensive against terrorist elements in the area.
The statement disclosed that initial operational reports indicated that eight terrorists were killed in action, but a subsequent Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) revised the casualty figure to 28.
In a separate operation on October 30, the Navy Marines deployed at the Naval Base Lake Chad carried out another offensive strike against an identified Boko Haram terrorist enclave at Dumba.
The operation was preceded by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which enabled troops to identify and monitor the terrorist elements before executing a precision strike on the enclave.
Preliminary Battle Damage Assessment indicated that approximately six terrorists were neutralised, while several others reportedly sustained injuries. The Navy noted that the casualty figures remained subject to further verification as operational assessments continued.
The two operations bring the reported number of terrorists neutralised by the Nigerian Navy Marines to 34, marking another operational development in the ongoing joint military campaign against insurgency in the North-East.
The Navy said the recently established Nigerian Navy Marines had continued to serve as a force multiplier under Operation HADIN KAI, enhancing the military’s capacity to conduct offensive operations, target terrorist hideouts and disrupt hostile activities within the Lake Chad area.
It added that the Marines’ operational contributions were supporting efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore peace and stability in the region.
The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustained offensive operations and intelligence-driven engagements in support of joint military efforts to strengthen national security and protect vulnerable communities.
