Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised three terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a motorcycle and 41 livestock during separate operations in Kaduna and Kano states.
The operations, conducted on October 29 and 30, 2026, form part of sustained military efforts to weaken terrorist networks, curb criminal activities and restore security across the North-West region.
According to an official statement signed by the Acting Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, troops of Sector 1 recorded the first success on October 29 while conducting a fighting patrol along the Shadow–Old Kuyello Road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The troops reportedly came under attack from armed terrorists but swiftly responded with superior firepower, successfully repelling the assault.
A subsequent pursuit and exploitation of the area led to the neutralisation of three terrorists and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, three rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.
The statement disclosed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the encounter.
In a related operation on October 30, troops of Sector 1 recovered 28 cows and 13 sheep from suspected cattle rustlers in Shanono town, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.
The suspected criminals reportedly abandoned the livestock and fled upon sighting the advancing troops during a routine patrol.
The task force stated that arrangements were ongoing to hand over the recovered animals to the appropriate authorities.
Reaffirming the military’s commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorists and other criminal elements, Operation FANSAN YAMMA assured that troops would maintain the operational momentum across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and facilitate the restoration of lasting peace and security in the North-West.
