The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is set to modernise its operations through the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled technology and other Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions to improve efficiency and service delivery.
The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, disclosed this while interacting with members of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream One undergoing their Orientation Course at the Delta State NYSC Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku.
According to an official statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the planned technology integration is aimed at making the online registration process for Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) more seamless and ensuring that all eligible candidates can register successfully on the NYSC portal.
Nafiu said the scheme would also transition some of its operations to technology-driven platforms in line with emerging trends in the ICT sector.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the scheme’s operational processes, reduce registration difficulties and enhance its capacity to deliver services more efficiently to prospective and serving corps members.
The Director-General also announced plans to improve the quality of kits provided to corps members from next year as part of efforts to enhance their welfare.
He urged the corps members to maximise their deployment to Delta State by building meaningful friendships and professional networks that could benefit them beyond their service year.
Nafiu further encouraged them to acquire relevant skills that would promote self-employment, job creation and financial independence.
“Learn new skills, and people will value your skills. Buy shares because you have great opportunities to venture into commodity trading after your service year,” he advised.
Earlier, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mr John Kwaghe, disclosed in his camp situation report that 1,697 corps members had registered at the orientation camp, while 1,094 corps members were dislodged from Lagos State to the camp.
The planned adoption of AI-enabled solutions underscores the NYSC’s drive to embrace technological innovation, modernise its operations and improve service delivery across the scheme.
