The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has expressed deep sorrow over the military aircraft crash involving NAF 931, which claimed the lives of officers and airmen of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
According to an official statement signed by the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), the deceased personnel were on a routine flight mission when the aircraft crashed.
Musa described the victims as “brave officers and airmen” who served the nation with courage, devotion and selfless patriotism, saying their death was an irreparable loss to the Armed Forces and the country.
“These fine officers and men exemplify the highest standards of military professionalism, loyalty, and commitment to the defence of our Fatherland,” the Minister said.
He extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the Armed Forces, and the families, loved ones and colleagues of the fallen military personnel.
The Minister also commiserated with the families of civilians who were on board the ill-fated aircraft, assuring them that the government and the military shared in their grief.
Musa disclosed that a comprehensive investigation had been ordered into the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine its cause and ensure that necessary operational safety protocols were reinforced across military aviation units.
He prayed for the eternal repose of the souls of the deceased and for God to grant their families, the military community and Nigerians the fortitude to bear the loss.
