The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, brief key stakeholders on its preparations for the 2027 General Election as the countdown to the polls reaches 100 days.
According to an official statement signed by Adedayo Oketola, Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, the Commission will hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja.
The statement said the engagement would provide updates on critical aspects of the electoral preparations, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, is expected to address the gathering alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The Commission said the meeting would further demonstrate its commitment to transparency, proactive public communication and collaboration with stakeholders across the electoral ecosystem.
Expected participants include political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.
The meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., with guests expected to be seated by the same time, while attendance is strictly by invitation.
The event will also be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on INEC’s official social media platforms.
Accredited media representatives and invited guests are required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
