Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun, Ondo State, is set to mark its 50th anniversary with a week-long Golden Jubilee celebration highlighting five decades of academic excellence, character formation, leadership and service to humanity.
According to an official statement by the Golden Jubilee Publicity Committee of the Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun Old Students’ Association, the anniversary is scheduled for September 28 to October 4, 2026, and will bring together old students, current students, staff, parents, community leaders and other stakeholders to celebrate the institution’s journey and contribute to its future development.
Established five decades ago, the school has produced graduates who have distinguished themselves in various professions and contributed to the development of their communities and the nation.
The anniversary programme features a series of activities, including an environmental sanitation exercise, “Operation Let the Forest Fall,” a football match, tree and flower planting, a health talk, the CHS @ 50 Lecture, and an AI and Digital Training programme for teachers.
Other activities include an inter-school Quiz and Debate Competition, the “Let’s See Ilutitun Again” Rally, and the CHS Novelty Match, tagged “The Old versus The New.”
The celebration will also feature the Golden Jubilee Anniversary ceremony, dedication of the newly built and fully furnished “Legacy School Gate” and the CHSIOSA Corper’s Lodge, as well as an awards ceremony, fundraising luncheon, Golden Jubilee Dinner and networking session.
The week-long activities will culminate in a Thanksgiving Service on October 4 at the Cathedral of Ebenezer, Diocese on the Coast, Ilutitun-Osooro.
Speaking on the significance of the anniversary, Comrade Akinsuyi, Chairman of the Golden Jubilee Publicity Committee, corroborated by the President of the Alumni Association, High Chief Olusegun Netufo, described the celebration as an opportunity to honour the school’s heritage, memories and achievements while renewing commitment to its future.
Akinsuyi said the 50th anniversary was more than a milestone, describing it as a testimony to the enduring value of education and the collective contributions of generations of teachers, students, parents, old students and other stakeholders to the growth of the institution.
Also, the Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Anniversary Fundraising and Planning Committee, Rev. Dr. Sunday Akingbelure and Dr. Olorunyomi Akinboyo, respectively, called on members of the old students’ association and the general public to support the school through substantial contributions.
The publicity committee urged old students, current students, staff, parents, traditional institutions, government representatives, community leaders, friends of the school and residents of Ilutitun to participate actively in the historic celebration.
It stressed that the Golden Jubilee provides an opportunity for stakeholders to reconnect with their roots and contribute to building a stronger future for the institution.
The association said the celebration is being held under the theme: “Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun @ 50: Celebrating the Past, Inspiring the Future.”
