The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has appointed the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Mr Olugbenga Agboola, OON, as the Nigeria Police Force National Youth Ambassador.
According to an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the appointment was conferred on Agboola on Monday, September 7, 2026, during his visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The appointment is under the International Youth Day 2026 National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative, designed to harness the influence of credible youth leaders and role models in promoting peacebuilding, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and responsible civic participation.
The Police said Agboola’s selection recognises his achievements as a technology entrepreneur and his leadership in developing Flutterwave into a leading African financial technology company, with notable contributions to innovation, financial inclusion and entrepreneurship.
Disu said the initiative reflected the Force’s commitment to engaging young Nigerians as partners in building safer communities and promoting responsible citizenship.
He stressed the importance of creating positive pathways for young people through education, innovation, entrepreneurship and lawful enterprise, while encouraging them to reject cybercrime and other social vices.
The IGP also called for greater investment in the technological capabilities of young police officers, particularly their knowledge of emerging technologies and digital tools applicable to modern policing.
He noted that improved technological capacity would strengthen the Police Force’s ability to investigate cybercrime, trace digital evidence and respond to technology-enabled criminal activities.
Disu charged Agboola to use his platform and influence to inspire young Nigerians to pursue legitimate opportunities, embrace integrity and responsible innovation, and contribute to national development.
Responding, Agboola expressed appreciation to the IGP for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to support the objectives of the initiative, particularly in youth empowerment, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and peaceful civic engagement.
The Nigeria Police Force said the initiative would further strengthen its strategic partnerships in youth empowerment, technological innovation and cybersecurity, while promoting greater youth participation in efforts to build safer communities.
